VoIP Call Quality Troubleshooting
Reboot the ATA
When anything goes wrong with your VoIP adapter, unplug the power connector for 15 seconds and power it back up. Do not pick up the handset during this process. Reboot any other equipment the ATA is running through such as a router or switch.
Choppy Calls
Choppy calls are usually caused by latency or packet loss by an ISP or network congestion at peak hours. One must remember, just because you have a hi-speed connection, the person you are calling may not. If you are uploading or downloading a large file, sometimes this can effect call quality.
Buzzing or Static
Typically this is related to a ground issue with your analog phone equipment or cables. Try swapping out the phone and/or cable.
Fast Busy Signal
If you made a call and got a faster than usual busy signal, this is usually an indication that your ATA needs rebooting. Unplug the power connector for 15 seconds and power it back up. Do not pick up the handset during this process. Reboot any other equipment the ATA is running through such as a router or switch.
